Checkin' In...

Hanging with the Tribe at Troy's 30th Birthday PartyHey Hey there friend-os.

Hope this finds you all well and loving life.

I haven’t written in this in quite sometime, so I thought I would share some with you all. I have written my new years blog back in January, but have yet to publish it since I haven’t gotten a the pictures from the celebration yet. Be looking for a “retroactive entry” soon.

In the meantime, thought I would say hello and give you all a little update.

Isn't she lovely?.. she reminds me of that 70's song " Isn't She Lovely?".I hope everyone know that I have now been seeing Carolyn for 10 months... Yes, this will be the longest relationship I’ve ever had. But I’m excited to see what the future holds for us and what fun we’ll have in the near and long term future... I have no doubts it will be epic.

Experiencing the Sea Breeze...So what have I been up to? Well, not much really. Just hanging out and having fun really. I know it’s been a year since I’ve written on here, so let’s see. I went on a cruise last “spring break”. It was a through a single cruise group, and it was tons of fun. Met lots of fun people, saw some beautiful scenery, and just enjoyed the time away. It was weird though, all the stations in the cabins were from Denver, so I will still in the loop. Go figure.

Let’s see, what else. Last summer, Zach and I did go to Indiana with our Ma to see her side of the family. Very enjoyable, especially since we were lucky enough to see almost everyone. We even got to go see Billy Joel and Elton John perform in Columbus (I’m aware this is in Ohio).

We're apples... I'm SurprisedI took a few days to check out the New England area in late September with my friends Mat & Shanna, and Kris & Sarah. I had a great time and loved being out there. Good times were had by all (and thanks again for their hospitality).

Other than that, just spending time with Carolyn, friends, and family while doing what I can to enjoy life. Work is still the same, so nothing to report there. But life is great. Dad’s busy as ever working (and now we got him playing cards with us, it’s great), Ma is getting ready to retire this June, Zach’s getting ready to graduate in May then move downtown with Right before our annual Family Dog Sledding TripRaul, Mike’s working hard, Bob’s raising the kids, Chowder’s moving along despite his previously torn ACL, and the turtles are still doing there thing. We unfortunately lost Sable the Ferret due to old age last month, but we’ll always remember the good times and little things she did to brighten our days.

Thanksgiving with the phews...So what’s ahead? Lots of cool stuff actually. Carly and Bryan are getting married in November, so heading back to Mexico for that ceremony. Brian and Rena and getting married in July, Amy in Jeremy in June, and Sarah and Kris this weekend, so lots of fun there. Ryan and Laura are going to be having their first child this August, can’t wait for that! As for me, I’m excited to keep having fun. Game nights, BBQs, playin’ cards, hanging by the pool, and whatever else comes along. I’m really excited to get back on Facebook and be in the know again (since I gave it up for Lent and all). But not much else to report, just staying the course…

I make this look good...Alright, there’s a quick update from yours truly. I hope you’re all doing well, and would love to hear from you soon! You know how to reach me…

... But if not...

So This is the New Year (2010)

Rockin' the Geek Squad Uni on New Years Eve...Once again, I’m not going to start this blog with my traditional "The New Year" song lyrics (written by Death Cab for Cutie) since I've done it a couple times before, but if you would like to see those lyrics, which are very fitting, see my "So This is the New Year (2008)..." post.

So, without further adieu, let's review my 2009 resolutions...

Hangin' with my girl on my birthday...Working on the results of my dating life so far... Successful? Hmmm… Let’s see... Carolyn and I started dating in May and things are still going well… So I think that, yeah, this has been pretty darn successful! So successful in fact, that I will not include this as a 2010 resolution (are you freaked out yet? Because I am)…

Improving my culinary skills further... Successful? Sure, kinda. I cook every now and again, and I help Carolyn sometimes too, so sure, we can add this to the “yes” pile… doesn’t mean it stops though, ya know?

Volunteering... Successful?.. No, but seeing improvement. I did do some this year. I even made attempts where I was turned away (Bell ringing for the Salvation Army).
But I wouldn’t go around bragging about any success… Guess what’s going to be on 2010’s list?

We make this look good...Keep Traveling... Successful?.. Yes! I’m happy with my trips this past year (Cruise to the Eastern Caribbean, Hanging with Fam in Indiana, seeing friends in New England), and I already have some ideas for this upcoming year (Mexico in November for Carly and Bryan’s wedding and Vegas this summer is also a possibility)… This will be removed from my future resolutions at this time… it’s a good thing.

Professionally, I want to make more money and get promoted... Yeah, I know, this is very vague, but was there any success?.. No, not in any way, shape, or form. The economy and the merger to Staples (from Corporate Express), among other things, put a stop to that…

Complete at least two home improvement projects… Successful? Yes and No. I did get the ceiling fans installed in my bedrooms and living room… but I think that’s it. I have some other ideas... see below.

Learn some new skills and things... Yes and No. I FINALLY bought guitar, and I taught myself a few cords (“the sky was the limit”), but I need to do more… I did try skiing again for the first time in 12 years, and I learned more about vino… so what’s next? Hmmm...

Trust me, it's more active than it looks...Continue being active... Successful? YES! Soccer’s been going strong all year round, and I’ve been running a lot more with Carolyn in the picture. I’ve also kept lifting. Care’s getting into racquetball now, so it just gets better… Now if I could get to playing hoops again.

So what 2010 contain? Well…

Improving my culinary skills even more… duh. With a lot of the stuff I’m learning from Carolyn about nutrition, I feel this could be a great year for some great food...

Volunteering… Yes, I want to do more. I want to get involved with Habitat for Humanity this year, in addition to take advantage of some other opportunities (like Bell Ringing... know of any more? Let me know...).

Complete at least two home improvement projects… I have a simple project I would like to complete sooner than later, but nothing too crazy or wild. Carolyn keeps talking about painting, but not sure how I feel about there (especially with the vaulted ceilings). Still would be down with hardwood floors, but not ready for that leap yet… any ideas?

Uncle Clint's Sunshine in a can...Learn some new skills and things... I have some good ones on deck I think. I want to make my own beer at some point. I could see that as being a lot of fun (does that count as improving my culinary skills too?). I want to take a guitar class as soon as possible and really get that going, show that I really am a rock star. I want to learn CPR this year as well (in case anyone has trouble after hearing my music or trying my beer).

Professionally, I want to make more money and get promoted... I’ve been with the same company in the same position for nearly five years now, so I feel it’s time for a change. I don’t mind what I currently do, but I want more responsibility… and money. I’d like to develop some new skills and possibly help manage someone (or some people). Basically, I feel like I’ve maxed out what I can do in my current position. I’d like to stay with my current employer, but only if the opportunity is there. Again, with the economy, only so much can be accomplished, and the merge hasn’t put me in a great position, but we’ll have to see what happens… wish me luck!

Physically, I want to stay active, but I would love to add ten pounds by the end of the year. I know that with the running, soccer, and being active, that can be counterproductive, so I might have to hit the weights a bit more, modify my diet slightly, and try some new activities (Kickball anyone?), but I can handle it!

Hanging with the boys on the cruise...Finally, this might surprise some of you, but I want to do a better job communicating and updating with all my friends. I feel in the past year I didn’t get to talk (enough) to many of you, and even more I didn’t get to see and/or hang out with… Plan on changing that… Be on the look out for game night invites, a BBQ (maybe more), and card games… (and a "side resolution", I need

And I don't think this is all I want out of 2010. I'm still playing with being a parent and adopting a puppy and purchasing a surround sound system, among other things.

There they are: my 2010 resolutions. We’ll see how they go, and no time like the present to start. Remember, YES! ;)

Anyway, here’s wishing all of you a great 2010 that is more than “just heaven”. Feel free to write me, call me, whatever, and let me know how it’s going, since it’s always nice to hear from you.

Happy New Year!

Clint

So This is the New Year (2009)...

Still looking good Clint...I'm not going to start this blog with my traditional "The New Year" song lyrics (written by Death Cab for Cutie) since I've done it for the last two new years posts, but if you would like to see those lyrics, which are very fitting, see my "So This is the New Year (2008)..." post.

So, without further adieu, let's review my 2008 resolutions...

Working on the results of my dating life so far. Successful? Yeah, kinda. As most of you know (or can read from my previous post) I was seeing Erin for most of 2008, and I learned a lot about a many things, including more about me, what I want, and who I am as a person and in a relationship. Though Erin and I have since gone our separate ways, I really enjoyed our time together and appreciate all the memories and things she had a part in teaching me.

Improving my culinary skills further... Successful? Not really. Don't get me wrong, I cooked a little bit, and learned a few things sure, but really didn't do as much as I expected. Erin did a lot of cooking when we were together, which was great, and because of time and other aspects, I didn't do as much as I would have liked... something to look forward to in 2009 I guess...

Volunteering: Successful? Not at all. Disappointed on this one. I meant to do more, including bell ringing for the Salvation Army, but it just never happened. I can't make anymore excuses, but I want to try to get it going in 2009...

Travel More: Successful? Again, kinda. I was able to do a little more "getting away" from here. Went to Chicago in March, Cabo/Mexico in April, and a few trips around Colorado, including Aspen, Breck, Fort Collins, Estes Park, Pueblo, Springs, and what have you. Had a great time, and look forward to doing more traveling this year.

Professionally, want to increase my income by more than $9K by the end of year: Successful? Roughly 80%. Tough economy, but I was able to get a nice raise nearly the beginning of the year, so right before the market went to hell. Lucky me.

So as you can see, 2008 from a resolution stand point wasn't the best, but it was a good year. I learned a lot and am looking forward to 2009...

... So what are my new resolutions for 2009? Well, as I write these, I'm going to keep the movie "Yes Man" in mind. I went and saw that film over the 2008 Christmas holiday, and I have to say I enjoyed the concept. I'm not going to say yes to EVERYTHING like Jim did in the movie, but I really like the idea of being more open to opportunities in life... So here we go.

Working on the results of my dating life so far... Duh right? Well, I want to keep in mind all the experiences I've had so far with this and learn from them, either to not make the same mistakes again or improve what I am already doing right. Okay, moving on.

Improving my culinary skills further... No joke right? I feel I could have done more over the last year and should have made more opportunities happen... I did learn some great things last year to work into this so I am looking forward to putting that to use.

Volunteering... No excuses this time. I want to do the bell ringing for sure, but I want to do more. If you know of any great opportunities, please let me know.

Keep Traveling... I'm still putting money aside, and I still want to see more of what's going on. I don't think I'll head out of the country this year unless I have someone to go with (I would love to do parts of Europe), but there are a lot of possibilities throughout the country, especially in the East. Maybe go see people I know, maybe go see places I know no one, but I want to get away and see what else is out there... let's see what happens.

Professionally, I want to make more money and get promoted... Yeah, I know, this is very vague. But, with the Economy being what it is, and the changes going with the acquisition of Staples, I don't think raises or promotions are planned this year. But, I have been there 4 years, worked really hard, and will keep working to make more money and possibly get promoted (I am interested in becoming a manager). I really just don't want to be stagnate and will do what I can to keep improving my financial and professional situation.

Complete at least two home improvement projects… I bought a place for a reason, right? I want to get bedroom and living room fans installed before it starts getting warm outside, but other than that, not sure what other project I want to complete. Painting? Carpet? Room decorating? Dunno…. Any ideas?

Learn some new skills and things... I want to learn to play a musical instrument (Piano/Guitar), learn to ski or snowboard (again), and really get a firm grasp on wine, among other things...

Continue being active... Going to keep playing soccer, doing Yoga, and lifting, but want to get back into Racquetball and Basketball in addition doing more things I've done before and things I've never tried. I know I’ve lost some weight this year, and this upcoming year, I’m hoping to add the weight back on in healthy way.

And I don't think this is all I want out of 2009. I'm still playing with being a parent and adopting a puppy, purchasing a surround sound system and/or large, flat panel television, and making my own beer, among other things.

There they are, my 2009 resolutions. We’ll see how they go, and no time like the present to start. Remember, YES! ;)

Anyway, here’s wishing all of you a great 2009 that is more than “just fine”. Feel free to write me, call me, whatever, and let me know how it’s going, since it’s always nice to hear from you.

Happy New Year!

A year later...

Clint and Erin at a Wedding Reception in Late June. ... That's right amigos, it's been a year since my first blog on blog spot (a little over actually), and half of 2008 is gone, so I thought I would delight you all with some ramblings and updates.

So what's going on? Not a whole lot here, just living the dream. Seriously, not much is happening. Since the year began though, I've been keeping occupied. In January, I met a beautiful woman named Erin, and we've hanging out constantly ever since. She is fantastic! Very smart, fun, humorous, pretty, genuine, and so on. We've already done a lot together. Sure, a lot of it is hanging out here, either at home, at the movies, a concert, or hiking, but we also went to Chicago in March where we had a pretty good time and to Gunnison in June to hang out with some good family friends. Seems like these are two of many trips to come.

Hanging by the Beach in Cabo, April 2008.Speaking of trips, went to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico at the end of April. Went with brother Mike for a week and had a great time. And that's not all I'm planning this year. This winter I'm planning on heading to the East to see some friends and meet Erin's family (gulp ;). There's even talk of heading to Las Vegas for Thanksgiving with the my rents and bros (we'll see if that happens though)...

Work is going alright. Keeping me busy, that's for sure. But I'm doing pretty well there. I haven't really had any management opportunities appear yet, but I'm keeping optimistic for the near future. As you may have heard, Staples recently bought my employer (Corporate Express), but this really won't impact me for some time (if at all). Everything else is going well with work, so there's no need to look for an immediate change.

Sue, Clint, Zach, Erin, and Chuck Dog Sledding in Breckenridge, March 2008.What else have I been doing for fun? Let's see... Erin and I went Dog Sledding with the fam in March, that was a blast, as usual. I've had a few Shindig's at my place, including a poker night, a game night, BBQ, and Mat's going away party. Haven't been to too many shows so far this year. Billy Joel and Death Cab for Cutie have been the only two so far this year (Jimmy Eat World was late December, so they don't count). But don't worry, I have America, the Foo Fighters, The Offspring, and the Counting Crows all on the way.

Now, as you might have guessed, I haven't been very active this year so far. I'm telling you that so you won't have to say something like "you look so skinny" or "you've lost a lot of weight, haven't you?". There are a number of reasons why I haven't been as active this year. Some of the time I could be active is spent with Erin (and there are no complaints there for sure), but other things have prevented me from getting a move on, like working late, being sick (courtesy of Mexico), and fun activities like concerts and meeting up with friends. Alas, there's hope out there yet. Been playing soccer again, reving up to start racquetball soon, getting my hoop on weekly with some co workers, getting Erin into Yoga, and hopefully getting some more running and lifting in soon... With softball and volleyball, since it's summer and all :) For those of you curious, yes I have a Wii Fit, and yes, it kicks ass! So I expect to get back to form soon...

Benjamin and Matthew having fun at Dave and Busters. Before you ask, the fam is all doing well. Chuck is hanging with Chowder enjoying his "retirement", Sue is working hard and getting closer to her retirement, Zach is studying hard at CSU (at least harder than ever) to start his career to get closer to his retirement, Mike's still keeping the mean streets of Colorado Spring clean, Bob is doing a great job with Anna to raise Ben and Matthew, and Sable still runs my parent's place with the three turtles, Max, Shelby, and "LT" (Little Turtle"). Pets are family too (you tell my mom different, she'll smack you)... and by the way, I am still thinking about getting a dog, but still having the justification issue.

So there ya go, my life at the moment... fun huh? Everything else is doing just the fine and is the same as last time (i.e. my Condo, car, DVD collection, etc)... Hope you're all well! Drop me an e-mail or a message on MySpace or Facebook, I would love to hear what you're up to :)

Word. Check ya later!

So This is the New Year (2008)...

Damn I'm sexy!Let's start this blog with a song...

The New Year
By Death Cab for Cutie, 2003

So this is the new year.
And i don't feel any different.
The clanking of crystal
Explosions off in the distance (in the distance).

So this is the new year
And I have no resolutions
For self assigned penance
For problems with easy solutions

So everybody put your best suit or dress on
Let's make believe that we are wealthy for just this once
Lighting firecrackers off on the front lawn
As thirty dialogs bleed into one

I wish the world was flat like the old days
Then i could travel just by folding a map
No more airplanes, or speed trains, or freeways
There'd be no distance that could hold us back.

There'd be no distance that could hold us back [x2]

So this is the new year [x4]

I love that song. Really captures how people celebrate the ending of one year, and the beginning of the next. As you can see in the picture, that was me this year. My friend Bryan had people over for a very classy cocktail party, and we had a great time. Thanks B.

Anyway, this is the new year, and unlike the song, I do have resolutions. Before I dive into what I want to do this year, I think I need to examine the results of last year's resolutions (original blog on MySpace at http://blog.myspace.com/clintcrockett). So without further adieu...

Wanted to be a homeowner by the end of April. Successful? Yes. I purchased a very nice condo in Broomfield that I like more and more everyday. Very cool huh?

Planned on being a parent to a puppy by the end of June. Successful? No. I am having so much trouble justifying this. I'm never home, I don't have a yard, and it would only be me taking care of the pup (with help from some very considerate neighbors)... and those three things are the main things making me think I'm not ready to be a "parent".

Tried to be more aggressive in my dating life.. Successful? Oh Yeah. I would say this has been a very interesting year when it came to dating. I defiantly went out with more women this year than ever. Some were fun and over, some are still friends, and some just were not meant to be. I learned a lot about the process, other people, and about myself... I haven't learned everything though...

I was looking to make an annual income of $50K by the end of 2007. Successful? ... 10 months early.

Looking to remain active despite all the changes in my life. Successful? ... For the most part. I was able to stay pretty active this year, but I wasn't able to do everything I wanted to. The last time I played golf was the middle of June, I stopped going to the Yoga studio this summer, and I never joined a soccer league... But I was able to figure out a way to stay active...

I was hoping I could keep writing my weekly blogs until July 3rd, one a week for a year. Successful? Negative. The last weekly blog I wrote was on April 29th, two months short my goal (again, check out http://blog.myspace.com/clintcrockett), but I'm not upset about that. I just ran out of topics to write about that would have been any interest to anyone. But I'm still happy with the outcome and some of my writing is actually pretty interesting, so I'm happy with it.

I wanted to learn how to cook. Successful? For the most part. Before my friend Sarah left for Vermont, we were cooking every Sunday. I learned a lot and really want to do more...

Now we know the old, let's check out the new:

Working on the results of my dating so far. Like I mentioned before, I learned a lot this year... And with all the learning I did, I think I'm ready for the next step. As some of you know, I've never had a real serious relationship (some of you might cite otherwise, but one of those was in high school, the other based on a lie, so neither of those count in my book). I want to learn more about being in that situation, acknowledging the necessary sacrifice, compromise, happiness, and comfort that comes with that next step. And yes, I want to learn more about who I am in that situation and what adjustments I could make based on the newly acquired knowledge.

Improving my culinary skills further... And why not? This is fun and, if I have someone to cook for, could even be more fun...

Volunteering: You know, I have things pretty good. Now I think I should do more to help those who haven't had the nice breaks I have. If you have any ideas on where I could volunteer, let me know. I want to be a bell ringer for the Salvation Army next holiday season, but of course there are 11 months before that where I could do some good.

Travel More: To be honest, I'm not happy with myself this year. Not one trip anywhere. Given, funds were lower due to the new house and new car, and my brother Mike and I planned a trip to Mexico that fell through, but I'm still not thrilled. Vacation time was not the problem (I maxed out at my 120 hours numerous times this year). So this year, I've adjusted my finances to add $50 from each check to a vacation/Christmas fund, and I'll get a 40 hour extension on my max of accumulated time, so I should be okay to at least take two trips of some sort this year.

Professionally, want to increase my income by more than $9K by the end of the year: I'm aiming high this year, but hey, nothing wrong with that. I would love to get into a management position this year, so we'll see if that's possible.

I know, I know, there is no mention of a puppy up here. Trust me, it's not an easy thing to omit. But, as I mentioned, I just couldn't provide the attention and accommodations the pup needs. This does not mean I'm not willing to be convinced otherwise though...

So there ya go, my resolutions for the new year. I'm anxious to see what this one holds. I think this will be a good year for me. Not a whole lot new going on now or in the immediate future, and that's not a bad thing.

Here's to hoping you all have a great year in 2008!

Check ya later!

Year in Pictures: 2007

I was hairy earlier this year...What up "Yos"?

Hope this finds you all well. This is the first of a few blogs I'll be posting to recap the year. I'll report on the second part of the year soon, but in the meantime I thought I would share my year in pictures. Check it out.

Obviously, the first picture shows my facial appearence at the beginning of the year... Slight change huh?

For those of you who missed the haircut, check out the story below in my prevous blog "I Owe you This...". But immediately below are some pictures from the festive removal.

Yes, that's a Flobie... ... And yes, there was great detail given to the task... ... Thank goodness this style was only around a weekend.

The Penthouse is on the second level. In April, I made the decision to go from "Renter" to "Homeowner" by purchasing a condo. I do dig my 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom residence. Moving from "the basement" to "the Penthouse" was a good thing... let's just hope the place sells for more when the time come, making the investment that much sweeter. Thanks to all who came to May's housewarming party... And a special thanks to my parents and Mike for "moving" me (if anything, I helped them)...

Here's the dining room... Nice and open. Chuck filled the role of Grillmaster at the Housewarming party. Anjoli and John enjoying some grub and brew.

Nga was hit pretty hard by the out of control drunk.Haras is beautiful, but she has some big shoes to fill.Another before and after scenerio... On June 30th, Nga, the 2001 2-door Hyaundi Accent, was hit by a drunk driver that ended up being a fatal wound to "Ms. Dependable" (damage is much worse than what is shown on the left). Nga's Succesor, Haras, the 2007 4 door Honda Civic EX, was purchased a month later. She is named after my friend Sarah who moved out of state this summer (she patiently waited three hours while I did the dealing for the new autmobile). May Nga Rest in Piece.

And that's it for the crazy events. The second half of 2007 was semi boring in comparison to the first half. I'll tell you more in detail in a future post...

Big brother Ben helps Matthew eat his first birthday cake. Mike STILL picks on Bob... Everyone's doing great... though I have no idea what Ben's doing...

... But that's the end of the pictures! The above pictures show that the fam is doing well. Matthew celebrated his first birthday this year while Ben was excited to turn five. Mike and Bob as crazy as ever, and Zach, Ma, Pa, and Chowder are doing just fine.

Chris, Clint, Craig, Marcelle, and Sarah at the Uptown Tavern... and as much fun as ever.Next are pictures of friends who are doing great and loving life. My old roommates (Chris, Craig, Marcelle, and Sarah) are all still looking as sharp as usual. The three amigos (Carly, Stacie, and myself) are always up to no good, Ryan and Laura are celebrating their marriage that strated this summer. We'll miss Kris and Sarah (dressed to see Transformers), but Greg is still around to lessen the pain. Scottie and Bryan are two cool guys who have been hanging out recently since they are seeing the two female amigos, and we're thrilled to have Neal (and Sarah) back in Colorado. Finally, Troy's still hanging in Denver to my and Lydia's delight, and the rest of the guys (Like Mike, Paul, Andy, Brett, and Josh (A.K.A. Mr. Engaged)) are still having fun and living the good life.

Hola from the Fillmore from the amigos! Ryan and Laura look very happy... and great together. Kris, Sarah, and Clint going to Transformers like it's 1984...
Greg standing next to the frozen iceman at the Kwik-E-Mart. Scottie and Bryan are even more fun than this picture displays... believe it or not. Neal knows how to have a good time... as Clint shows.
Troy and Lydia made an appearence at Game Night this fall. Mike, Paul, Andy, Brett, and Josh all having fun at the 1st Annual Bridgman Christmas Party.

Mat Kearny playing at the Ogden on 3/17/2007.Okay, I know, I didn't take any crazy trips or have a crazy adventure this year, and part of that was due to my large purchases, but that's not to say I didn't have some fun. I was still able to check out some concerts, like Mat Kearney, Snow Patrol, and Jimmy Eat World, among others. I also met my goal of checking out every professional sports team in the Denver area in one year (Avs, Nuggets, Rage, 14ers, Mammoth, Rockies, Rapids, Outlawz, and ended with the Broncos And I still was able to check out lots of fun stuff, like the Renaissance Festival (as Mike demonstrates with this turkey leg and corn on the cob).

Snow Patrol performing at the Fillmore on 3/6/2007. Jimmy Eat World rocked the Ogden on 12/19/2007. Clint and Tiff were able to stay warm and watch the Broncos manhandle the Chiefs. Mike likes Meat and Corn.

So as you can see, it's been a great year. I've had lots of fun, done some good, and had some great successes. Life's looking good for 2008... a topic for a later time. Anyway, I wish you all the best in the upcoming year. I leave you with a great "inspirational" picture from the amigos' adventure at "Film at the Rocks" watching "The Big Lebowski".

Red Rocks is awesome... like the amigos.
Hope you're doing great!

Check ya later!

The Rebound Syndrome

Marcus Camby going after those boards...Hey Everyone...

Hope you’re doing well. Have a good Thanksgiving? Mine was really good. Just hung out with the family and played with the nephews. Also took this week off work completely, had some fun, but it’s kinda ending on a sour note. I’m not feeling too well right now, and I’ve been stuck at home because my plans keep getting cancelled... That’s what caused me to write about the below...

... So I'm really getting sick of this "Rebound Syndrome" I'm been experiencing lately. I'm not talking about Marcus Camby's mad b-ball skills, I'm talking about this idea that someone recently got out of a relationship and is willing to be with someone else shortly after because they are vulnerable and not thinking straight. I know this isn't very flattering for my position, but read further and you'll see that I think my experiance has been pretty situational. Ever since I moved to Denver after school, I have been affected by this. I start getting involved with a girl and then BAM, it's over because of their perception of some other guy they were seeing (boyfriend, dating etc)... what the hell? Let me tell you the two things I really hate about this:

1) The "Rebound" concept itself - This does not make sense to me. In my view, if you don't want to be in a relationship, that's fine. But, if you are looking to get out of one, you can't sit around and mope around about the lost love (especially when you're the person who called it off). I will give you that you can be reminded of that person, but this shouldn't be an everyday/everything thing. Okay, ignoring that last thought, if you're not ready to be with someone again, THEN DON'T DO IT! You end up hurting the other person (i.e. me) more than you end up hurting yourself. Every single person needs to think about this and especially the other person before even thinking about being involved with anyone to any degree.

2) My Role in the situation/Why Me? - This is what I'm sick of. Why is it always me? Why do I keep find people who are experiencing the rebound syndrome (even though they may or may not be coming out of a relationship)? And why do they always move on and be fine afterwards? I am not a fan of being that intermediate step. I feel like I'm perfect for that step for a number of reasons. a) I'm a genuinely nice guy who won't screw anyone over (I'm a safe bet), b) I've been pretty open minded about relationships despite the fact that I've been screwed over more than once; I don't hold my past experiences against the new person I'm dating, and c) I'm patient and can wait for things to move. Last time I checked, this is something all women (and men) are looking for in a partner... so what the hell?

As you can tell, I'm not thrilled about the situation where I keep finding myself. I would think it would be something I'm doing to drive these women away since it keeps happening, but I can't figure out what (If you know, please inform me so I stop making the same mistake).

So what actions am I going to take? Well, for now, nothing. I'm not going to pursue anyone, I'm not going out of my way for anyone, I'm just doing what I want to do. If someone's interested, they better pursue me and let me know, because I'm not doing it anymore (since it seems to always end up the same way). I'm not closing the door on dating; I'm just making it and enter only right now for every girl out there.
